StormyCloud Joins the I2P Family
After years of supporting I2P from the outside, we’re proud to announce that StormyCloud is officially joining the I2P family. This partnership marks a new chapter for both organizations — one built on shared values of privacy, freedom, and a truly decentralized internet.
New Board Members
With this change, we’re thrilled to welcome two new members to StormyCloud’s Board of Directors:
Lance James
The original creator and founder of I2P (formerly known as IIP). Lance brings a deep background in networking, cybersecurity, and program development, along with a lifelong commitment to open privacy technology.
eyedeekay ("idk")
A long-time I2P developer and community cornerstone. If you've been around I2P, you've seen his work. His ongoing contributions are vital to I2P's stability, growth, and innovation.
We’re incredibly grateful to have both Lance and idk guiding StormyCloud as we take this next step together.
What This Means for I2P
Starting immediately, I2P will begin accepting donations through cryptocurrency, credit/debit cards, and bank transfers. These funds will directly support:
- I2P software development — Building and improving the core I2P network and applications
- Infrastructure and hosting — Maintaining reliable servers and network infrastructure
- Research, documentation, and outreach — Expanding I2P's reach and capabilities
All donations will be processed through StormyCloud, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, making them tax-deductible for U.S. donors.
To be absolutely clear: 100% of all funds and donations received for I2P will go directly toward I2P development, operations, and community support. StormyCloud does not take any portion of these funds for unrelated expenses.
What This Means for StormyCloud
StormyCloud will shift focus more heavily toward supporting I2P — both technically and organizationally. Our current services will continue as usual, but new non-I2P projects will be paused while we put our full energy into helping I2P reach every user, every network, and every device possible.
The Mission Continues
Nothing about I2P’s philosophy or independence is changing. StormyCloud’s role is to empower, not steer — to provide resources, structure, and visibility so the I2P community can keep building the privacy-preserving internet we all believe in.
With the leadership of Lance and idk, and the collective strength of both communities, we’re ready to take I2P to the next level.
